This would be the second time that Carlson visited Moscow to conduct interviews; the first interview occurred in the spring of 2024 with Russian President Putin.
The interview topics with Lavrov ranged from discussions about nuclear weapons to American foreign policy, the war in Ukraine, and President Trump.
Carlson asked Lavrov his opinion on President-elect Donald J. Trump, as well as whether Lavrov was concerned about escalation between Russia and the U.S.

LAVROV: “While I think he’s a very strong person, a person who wants results, who doesn’t like procrastination . . . and he is friendly in discussions, but this doesn’t mean he’s pro-Russian as some people try to present him. The amount of sanctions we received under the Trump administration was very, very big."

LAVROV: “It is not for Zelenskyy to dictate the terms. I don’t think we should be presenting our relations as two guys deciding for everybody. It is not our style."
