Conservative pundits and Trump supporters are alleging election interference as U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who is hearing E. Jean Carroll's defamation case against Donald J. Trump, has delayed the trial until New Hampshire's Republican Primaries.
The judge hearing the case, in which E. Jean Carroll is suing Donald J. Trump, put the trial on hold Monday and Tuesday after a juror and the parents of one of Mr. Trump’s lawyers allegedly fell sick.
January 23, 2024, is the New Hampshire Republican Primaries. It's worth noting that Judge Kaplan did not allow for delay of trial in order for Trump to attend Melania's mother's funeral on Thursday, January 18.
Many conservative pundits and Trump supporters took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, calling the move election interference.
More updates on President Trump's attendance at trial and the Republican Primaries to be updated on Wednesday as the story develops.
