As President I hold the power to summon the Dáil as well as dissolve it. So as i said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on…

McGregor dropped a hint that he intends to run in next year’s presidential election. In a post to X, McGregor described himself as the "only logical choice" to succeed Michael D. Higgins.
He promised that he would have "all the answers" for the people of Ireland as president, and warned that the "charlatans" currently in power would be held answerable for their actions.
In recent years, McGregor has made a variety of public comments against the vast illlegal migrant affecting Ireland, among other things.
The unapologetic fighter vowed to dissolve the Dáil and "stop the train" to hold politicians to account.
For reference, the Dáil Éireann (otherwise known as the Assembly of Ireland) is the lower house, and principal chamber, of the Oireachtas (Irish legislature), which also includes the president of Ireland and a senate called Seanad Éireann.
According to The Irish Mirror, "Under the constitution, the president has the power to dissolve the Dáil but this is referred to as a "non-discretionary" power, as it can only be exercised on the advice of the Taoiseach.
The officeholder cannot, therefore, decide to exercise this power unless instructed to do so by the head of Government."
The Mirror also commented: "McGregor has previously suggested that he would privately fund weekly votes as president to ensure political accountability and directly involve citizens in the political process."
This is a developing story.
