Woody Allen booed out of 80th Venice Film Festival
After being booed out of his film screening, Woody Allen, 87, leaves Venice Film Festival in Italy alongside his wife Soon-Yi Previn, 52, who is his ex-girlfriend's adopted daughter. The Daily Mail reported that, "The couple's relationship has been mired by controversy as Soon-Yi is the adopted daughter of Woody's ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow. Mia and Woody began dating in 1979, but 13 years later their relationship ended when Woody, then 55, and Soon-Yi, then 21, were caught having an affair. Woody and his family were at Venice Film Festival for the premiere and first official screening of his film Coup De Chance." The festival was overshadowed by booing from opposition over allegations that he sexually assaulted his adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, which he vehemently denies. A group of protesters marched by Allen, chanting in Italian: 'We are the loud and fierce shout of all the bodies that no longer have a voice.' Allen's film Coup De Chance will unlikely be screened in the US after Hollywood cut ties with him following his daughter's allegations. Read More.

Weiss May Still Testify for the House Re: Hunter Biden Investigation
The question remains whether U.S. Attorney David Weiss, now a special counsel, will testify in three weeks before the House Judiciary Committee in connection to the Hunter Biden investigation. The Washington Examiner has reported that the Justice Department blocked other witnesses from complying with congressional subpoenas in House Republican probes into the Biden crime family. Two days before Hunter Biden’s plea deal imploded at a court hearing, the Justice Department offered to make Weiss available for a public hearing before the House Judiciary Committee as soon as Sept. 27. “While testimony at this early juncture must be appropriately limited to protect the ongoing matter and important confidentiality interests, the Department acknowledges your stated interest in addressing aspects of this matter in the near term,” Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte wrote to GOP committee chairmen on July 24. Weiss's appointment as special counsel was made after Hunter Biden’s unfortunate day in court on July 26, a moment that investigative reporter Sarah Bedford suggests may have also led to further cooperation between congressional investigators and the Justice Department. DOJ officials told lawmakers last week that they would not allow two FBI agents who worked on the Hunter Biden investigation to comply with subpoenas for their testimony, citing the criminal proceedings and House Republicans’ push for the two agents to appear at depositions, in which DOJ lawyers could not accompany them. Newsweek: Fani Willis' Case Against Donald Trump at Risk of Being 'Blown Apart'
Newsweek journalist Ewan Palmer reported that the length of Fulton County Fani Willis' election interference trial in Georgia may effect other trials involving Donald Trump, according to a legal expert. On Wednesday, Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee will oversee a hearing on whether former Trump lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell can have their cases tried independently. Willis intends to try all 19 defendants charged under her anti-racketeering investigation into alleged criminal attempts to overturn the 2020 election together, and has suggested her office is prepared to begin proceedings as soon as October 23, 2023. Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman suggested in a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Fulton County Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis' office will have a problem estimating how long it will take to present the state's joint trial case of all 19 RICO trial defendants, as well as the number of witnesses and the size of the evidence likely to be introduced.
